I've had a soft spot for Luella ever since those bat-print shirts a few seasons back. This spring, Luella returns with a more ladylike collection that screams 'sweetheart'.

What adorable dresses! They manage to look sweet without being too demure.

Many of the skirts in the collection are bell-shaped, as is the second dress. Making the skirts bell-shaped rather than A-line gives the dresses the spunk Luella is known for.

I'm in love with the heart cut-out!

Boatneck French sailor shirts are a classic item that will never go out of style, and lately they seem to have received an extra boost in popularity. The beautiful Audrey Tatou sports one in Coco Avant Chanel, and I myself (not that I am anywhere near Audrey or Chanel!) have owned a cotton one from H&M for more than a year that I've since worn to death.

Lately lots of girls have been seen pairing them with jeans or trousers. However, one of my favourite incarnations of the French sailor shirt came from the poster of a Korean movie, The Naked Kitchen.

Then there's the bold, sequined, angular version from Balmain.

While not strictly a sailor shirt,  this outfit on Jean Seberg is just as chic.

My personal favourite is this one from Petit Bateau. The band of white above the stripes, the buttons at the collar and the slightly shorter sleeves make it so much more than just another striped shirt.

Trend Alert: Birds of a Feather...

I simply love feathers. They bring to mind magical tales of kingdoms lost and won, stories of swan princesses, and dreams of flying and enchantment. Feathers exude grace and style by adding a flight of fancy to your look. This elegant trend is hot for Fall/Winter 2009, so do add some feathery wonder to your outfits!

Japanese fashion

This look was seen on the runway for the season, and more recently on celebrities like Black Lively who wore the above feathered dress to the New York premiere of Where The Wild Things Are. Also don't miss this sighting on the streets of Paris. Absolutely amazingly stylish.

For those who are not so daring (this includes me!), it is still easy to add this trend into your wardrobe by accessorizing with a feathered headband or other jewelry. This will provide an ephemeral touch to the most basic of outfits.

Seoul Fashion Week begins autumn collection

What's new in Korea's fashion scene this Fall? Check out 2009 Seoul Fashion Week for that answer. Taking place at SETEC (Seoul Trade Exhibition & Convention) and the Bailey House in Gangnam-gu district for a whole week from Oct. 16 to 23, this is the country's largest twice-yearly fashion event.

A total of 43 local designers including Lie Sang-bong and Woo Young-mi, who are making waves overseas, will present their hottest new designs for next year's spring and summer. Over 70 other local brands for men's and women's wear will be present with clothing, shoes and accessories in showroom and booths. The three noteworthy designers from abroad, Philip Lim, Damir Doma and Richard Nicoll will show off their individual collections in the International Fashion Exchange Program.

The key phrase for this show is “Global Fashion Business”: going beyond just looking and enjoying but establishing a market space for actual business exchanges to take place between buyers and sellers.

An updated ordering system will also be introduced at this fashion show. The tablet that appeared for the first time in last spring's collection received favorable reviews for catering to the convenience of businesspeople. It is an information sharing system between buyers, sellers and designers linked through a wireless broadband handset that allows access to detailed databases of a particular brand in real time.

The presentation session will also be extended further to bring the sellers and buyers closer with the participation of 12 big name brands.

Further, international speakers will discuss their ideas on global trends at the global fashion forum and an exhibition of Sarah Moon, the famous Paris fashion photographer, will be on display throughout the whole period.

“The Fall Seoul Fashion Week will present a new blueprint for Seoul to rise as a fashion hub,” said Won Dae-yeon, head of the organizing committee
